This event served as an opportunity to share warmth with neighbors in need through kimchi-making for care recipients, fostering cooperation among various institutions, organizations, and volunteers.
The event was funded by the self-budget and sponsorships of eight organizations, including the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society Pocheon District Council.
Local companies and organizations such as NH Nonghyup Bank Pocheon Branch, Korea Best Environment Co., Ltd., Hantangang JC Farm, Pocheon Hanwoo Association, Onaedon, Porangcha Culture Museum, and Taesamo Volunteer Society also provided sponsorships.
Additionally, the committee ensured that more people could benefit by preventing duplicate support for recipients and facilitating diverse assistance.
On the day, about 370 people including representatives from 18 institutions, organizations, and volunteers prepared 1,635 boxes of 10kg kimchi. After verifying duplicate support, the finished kimchi was delivered to neighbors in need through various organizations and local administrative offices.
Moreover, Pocheon Urban Corporation delivered kimchi to migrant workers, creating a sharing space where both foreigners and locals participated together.
Furthermore, the event contributed to environmental protection by using paper boxes instead of disposable styrofoam for packaging, employing reusable containers provided by the Pocheon Regional Self-Sufficiency Center’s Lala Wash Project Group, thereby reducing disposable product use and practicing resource recycling.
A multicultural family participant who joined the kimchi-making with their children said, "It was great to experience Korean culture and have time to communicate with the local community."
Chairman Park Kyung-sik said, "Thanks to the participation of all institutions, organizations, and volunteers, we were able to practice warm sharing," and added, "I hope this kimchi-sharing event becomes an opportunity to further spread the culture of sharing."
Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon City, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I would like to thank all institutions, organizations, and volunteers who worked hard for the event. We will continue to spare no interest and support to make Pocheon a 'better city filled with greater happiness.'"
