Infrastructure Installation for Supporting the Growth of Youth in Population Declining Areas
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 11th that it has been selected for the 2025 Youth Growth Support Project in Population Declining Areas, hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Youth Growth Support Project is a program linked with the Local Extinction Response Fund to create a healthy growth environment for youth in population declining areas through infrastructure installation and program operation, aiming to promote balanced regional development.
The county plans to operate the youth growth support project "Your Mind, My Mind, Our Mind" in consortium with Geochang YMCA. Through youth self-directed programs such as ▲Youth Fair Travel Planning Group ▲Youth Unity Sports Festival connecting regions ▲Youth Culture Festival Planning Group linking youth and local communities ▲Youth Fair Travel ▲Job Exploration, the project will support proactive participation and growth of youth through region-specific programs.
County Governor Goo In-mo said, "This pilot project for youth growth support will serve as a foundation for local youth, who are the future assets of our county, to freely pursue their dreams," adding, "We will continue to implement various youth policies so that local youth can grow happily and healthily."
Meanwhile, Geochang-gun is expanding the Youth Dream Voucher support fund and securing its own budget to operate youth activity support projects, which had their national and provincial funding cut. The selection for this youth growth support project is expected to serve as an important foundation to enhance youth life satisfaction and foster future local talents.
