7 Types of Mandu, Jumeokbap, Bungeoppang, and Hot Dog Products
Confirmed to Launch at 4th Largest Mart 'IGA' Early Next Year
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 11th that it will start selling Bibigo products at Coles, the second-largest supermarket chain in Australia. Following its entry into Woolworths, the number one supermarket last year, CJ CheilJedang has secured sales channels covering more than half of the local mainstream distribution market by entering the second-largest retailer as well.
The products for sale include three types of Bibigo dumplings (pork & chive, vegetable & corn, kimchi), as well as rice balls, bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry), and hot dogs, totaling seven items. Among these, rice balls, bungeoppang, and hot dogs are being introduced for the first time in the local mainstream distribution channels. A CJ CheilJedang official stated, "Interest in Korean processed rice and street food (K-street food) overseas is growing, leading to increased popularity."
Additionally, CJ CheilJedang has confirmed entry into IGA, the fourth-largest supermarket in the region, early next year. Woolworths, Coles, and IGA together occupy more than 70% of the Australian grocery distribution market and collectively operate over 3,000 stores locally, which is expected to significantly expand the awareness and consumer experience of Bibigo K-food.
Cha Yoo-jin, head of CJ CheilJedang Oceania, said, "With this entry into Coles, we can accelerate the expansion of the 'K-food new territory,'” adding, “We will continue to enter large distribution channels so that customers can enjoy Bibigo anywhere in Australia.”
Oceania, including Australia, is a key region where CJ CheilJedang is accelerating the global expansion of K-food. Currently, Bibigo products are sold through major distribution channels such as Woolworths and Costco in Australia, convenience store chain Ezymart, and New Zealand’s major supermarket chains New World and PAK’nSAVE.
