A large public parking lot with a total capacity of 166 vehicles will be established in Samjeon-dong, where parking difficulties were severe.

Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that the construction of the Samjeon Neighborhood Park Public Parking Lot (240 Baekjegobun-ro) has been completed and that it will officially begin operation on the 18th.

The district planned to create a parking lot utilizing the underground space of the park to improve the poor parking environment in Samjeon-dong and started construction around December 2022. After investing a total budget of 18.9 billion KRW over more than two years and going through numerous procedures with Seoul City and central government agencies, the grand project has come to a close. This has realized the long-cherished wish of residents for a significant expansion of parking spaces.

The parking lot has a total of 166 spaces, with 78 spaces on the first basement level and 88 spaces on the second basement level. Along with a spacious entrance and exit road, various convenience facilities such as nine electric vehicle charging stations, CCTV, restrooms, and elevators have also been installed.

The new parking lot will be operated with an ‘unmanned parking management system’ based on license plate recognition devices, barriers, and payment machines. The district additionally introduced an ‘unmanned parking lot integrated operation platform’ that enables online payment before exit, simplified verification for discount eligibility, and immediate response to complaints, achieving both parking convenience and operational efficiency.

The aboveground neighborhood park has been reborn as a comfortable resting place for residents. Aging facilities were reinforced, and based on local residents’ opinions, a multipurpose sports ground and complex exercise facilities were newly established. A barefoot-friendly walking path and themed gardens such as evergreen and scenic forests were created, completing a green space where community sports and relaxation coexist.

The district plans to hold a completion ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on the 18th to celebrate the park redevelopment and parking lot construction with local residents in a meaningful event.

The parking lot facilities will be available for use immediately after the completion ceremony on the 18th, and the fee is 150 KRW per 5 minutes. From December, monthly parking passes will also be available for 140,000 KRW. Applications can be made on the Songpa-gu Facilities Management Corporation website, and recipients will be selected by electronic lottery.
