Changwon Special City Successfully Hosts 'Jinhae Marathon Running with the Navy'

Contributing to Promoting Public Health and Raising Awareness of the Navy Nationwide

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 10th that the 17th Jinhae Marathon "Running with the Navy," held on the 9th, was successfully conducted at the Navy Academy's 1st Fitness Center and other areas within the naval base, with over 3,000 participants including citizens and military personnel.

The event, held within the naval base and run together by civilians, government officials, and military personnel, greatly contributed to promoting public health and raising awareness of the Navy nationwide. It has become a representative local event, now in its 17th year.

The 5 km course started at the Navy Academy's 1st Fitness Center ▶ Navy base ▶ turnaround near Pier 11 ▶ finishing at the 1st Fitness Center. The 11.11 km course started at the Navy Academy's 1st Fitness Center ▶ Navy base ▶ Pier 11 ▶ Pier 9 ▶ in front of Navy Gate 1 ▶ turnaround near Admiral Sun Won-il Statue ▶ finishing at the 1st Fitness Center.

The starting point, the Navy Academy's 1st Fitness Center, saw nearly 3,000 people gather under clear autumn weather. All participants took the opportunity to explore various parts of the naval base, gaining health benefits and creating beautiful memories during this precious time.

Additionally, to commemorate the Navy's founding day on November 11, a special 11.11 km course was newly established, adding special significance. The event was more of a festival where participants enjoyed the race itself with the goal of completion rather than record measurement.

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said in his congratulatory speech, "I urge all participants today to complete the race safely and healthily without injury. The city will continue to prepare various citizen participation programs with the Navy, which is a pride of Jinhae."
