Son Advises "Men in Their 20s Are an Important Political Asset"
Focus on 'Manosphere' to Garner Support
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Barron Trump, the 18-year-old youngest son of President-elect Donald Trump, played a role in his election victory.
According to the WSJ report on the 9th (local time), Barron advised his father that the support of so-called ‘idaenam’ (men in their 20s) could be an important political asset. President-elect Trump accepted this and recognized the importance of the idaenam vote, actively targeting the so-called ‘Manosphere’ (male-dominated online communities).
The Manosphere, also translated as the ‘men’s sphere,’ is difficult to define precisely, but generally refers to online communities that show opposition to feminism and prefer topics related to masculinity.
The WSJ described the Manosphere as “encompassing YouTubers and online pranksters with very diverse attitudes and topics,” and explained that the vague concept of the ‘brotherhood world’ (Bro-dom) is a keyword that runs through them.

Blake Martel, an enthusiastic supporter of President-elect Trump, described the Manosphere as “an organism that grew in soil overlooked or neglected by traditional mainstream media.” They share a culture that has been pushed out of current mainstream media, such as past sensational TV shows and men’s magazines, and are enthusiastic about cryptocurrencies, energy drinks, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The WSJ reported that President-elect Trump decisively connected with the Manosphere world when he appeared on a live broadcast of famous game streamer Adin Ross in August.
During the 90-minute live broadcast, President-elect Trump said, “My son Barron told me, ‘Dad, you don’t realize how big this interview is,’” and told host Ross, “Barron is a big fan of yours and asked me to send his regards.” Ross then introduced a friend of Barron’s who said, “Barron clearly plays a role in the strategy for this election,” and “He knows well who is popular in our age group right now.”
Afterwards, President-elect Trump increased his support by focusing on the Manosphere, appearing on broadcasts of other YouTubers such as Logan Paul.
The WSJ analyzed, “At that time, Barron, a first-year student at New York University, acted as a guide for President-elect Trump, who was not yet familiar with the world of the Manosphere.”
