Former U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's second-term administration appointments have excluded former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
On the 9th (local time), Trump announced through his social media platform Truth Social, which he founded, that "Former Ambassador Haley and former Secretary Pompeo will not be called upon in the currently forming Trump administration."
He added, "I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them in the past," and "I thank them for their service to the country."
Former Ambassador Haley previously competed until the end as a rival to Trump in the Republican primary before withdrawing midway. She served as U.N. Ambassador from 2017, when Trump's first administration began, until the following year.
Former Secretary Pompeo held key positions such as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Secretary of State during Trump's first administration, taking a leading role in major foreign policies.
Some speculated that since he frequently appeared as a supportive speaker during Trump's election campaign, demonstrating 'loyalty,' there was a possibility he might be reinstated.
