Beyonc?-Taylor Swift Face Off in 3 Major Awards
The Beatles Nominated for 'Record of the Year' for First Time in 60 Years
K-Pop Sees No Nominations Since BTS
The United States' most prestigious popular music awards ceremony, the 'Grammy Awards,' has once again overlooked K-pop. K-pop artists have failed to be nominated for the second consecutive year. With the remarkable rise of female artists, the trend of female dominance in the pop market is expected to continue from this year into next year.

On the 8th (local time), the Recording Academy, which hosts the 67th Grammy Awards, announced the final list of nominees by category. No K-pop artists were found on the list announced that day. The artist with the most nominations was Beyonc?. Beyonc? was nominated in 11 categories, including the three major general fields (main awards): 'Record of the Year,' 'Song of the Year,' and 'Album of the Year.'
She sparked discussions about Black roots with her album 'Cowboy Carter.' Beyonc? is the first female artist to be nominated in 11 categories.
Taylor Swift also appeared as a significant nominee. She was nominated for 'Album of the Year' for the seventh time with 'The Tortured Poets Department.' With this nomination, Swift set a record as the seventh female artist to be nominated in this category. This has drawn attention to the competition between the two artists.
Additionally, six out of eight nominees in the 'Album of the Year' and 'Record of the Year' categories were female artists. Especially in the Best New Artist category, Chapelle Ron and Sabrina Carpenter, who recently swept the charts, were nominated side by side, attracting attention. They are recorded as the third case in Grammy history where two artists competed in the same year.

The Beatles being nominated for 'Record of the Year' with their new song 'Now And Then' after 27 years is also a highlight. This is a historic moment as The Beatles were last nominated in this category 60 years ago in 1965 with 'I Want to Hold Your Hand.'
The album 'Berlin Phil Jin Eun-sook Edition,' recorded by the world-class German Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra featuring major works by contemporary composer Jin Eun-sook and released last November, was nominated in the 'Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package' category.
On the other hand, K-pop artists did not make the nominee list this time. It is largely analyzed that groups like BTS and BLACKPINK had no group music activities due to military service and solo activities.
BTS had been nominated for the Grammy Awards five times over three consecutive years until last year, boasting high recognition, but due to the members' military service, they will leave their spot vacant this year and next year. BLACKPINK also focused on solo activities for each member, achieving some success with individual single albums, but unfortunately, they did not perform as a full group and thus did not receive Grammy nominations.

The Grammy Awards, recognized as the highest authority in the global popular music industry, is an awards ceremony held annually since 1959 by the Recording Academy, a group of music experts including singers, producers, recording engineers, and critics.
Unlike commercial achievements such as chart performance or album sales, this awards ceremony focuses on musicality and artistry, with winners decided by members' votes, which is its most distinctive feature.
The '67th Grammy Awards' will be held on February 2 next year in Los Angeles (LA), USA.
