The globally popular artificial intelligence (AI) model ChatGPT experienced an outage on the 8th (local time) but was restored after one hour.
OpenAI announced on the day that "there was an outage in the ChatGPT service," and about an hour later explained that "most users can already confirm that ChatGPT has been restored."
The cause of the service outage has not been disclosed. OpenAI stated that the cause is "under investigation."
According to Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages, as of 7:13 PM Eastern Time (4:13 PM Pacific Time) on the day, 19,403 users were affected by the ChatGPT service outage. However, about an hour later, the number of outage reports dropped significantly to around 400.
ChatGPT also experienced outages in June this year and at the end of last year. The weekly active user count of ChatGPT reaches 250 million worldwide.
