Even Though They Warned to Beware of Falling Leaves... Seoul City and District Officials Keep Falling from Power

There is a saying that "in the final days before discharge, one must even be careful of falling leaves."

This is because soldiers who have endured harsh hardships and are about to be discharged cannot leave with honor if even a small incident occurs.

This applies not only to the military but also to public officials and life in general as a golden rule.

It is especially true for public officials, as they live by the honor of serving the country and its people.

Meanwhile, executives of Seoul City and its autonomous districts have fallen from grace due to unfortunate incidents, drawing sympathetic attention from those around them.

Even Though They Warned to Beware of Falling Leaves... Seoul City and District Officials Keep Falling from Power

A Seoul City executive was reported and suspended from duty a few months ago due to an unfortunate incident. This executive was highly regarded by colleagues and seniors and was on the verge of promotion, making the situation all the more regrettable. An investigation is currently underway, and the future course of action will be decided once the results are out.

Additionally, a district head in Seoul faced a major crisis as he was reported for going to a karaoke room after a first round of drinking with managers, team leaders, and staff, which became problematic.

With less than a year left in his public service career, concerns are rising about whether this district head can properly fulfill his duties.

Alongside this, another district head was suspended after being caught driving under the influence. This district head has a history of DUI incidents, and it is expected that the Seoul City Personnel (Disciplinary) Committee will impose a severe penalty, drawing attention.

Such incidents involving senior public officials on the brink of promotion or retirement have heightened awareness about proper conduct in the final stages of public service careers.

A Seoul City official stated, "Regardless of the reasons, it is very unfortunate that executives facing the greatest crisis so close to the end of their public service careers have encountered such situations."
