According to the county, recyclable waste vinyl includes black and white greenhouse vinyl, Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). On the other hand, fertilizer bags, thermal covers, reflective sheets, waste car shading nets, waste nonwoven fabrics, reflective films, seedling pots, drip hoses, and corn silage are classified as non-recyclable items.

Farmers must separate recyclable waste vinyl by color and dispose of it at designated temporary collection sites in each village, with the removal of foreign substances being crucial during this process.

A Gapyeong-gun official stated, “Since recyclable waste vinyl is collected by the town and township offices, it is important to remove foreign substances and separate by color before disposal,” adding, “Non-recyclable items should be placed in landfill-designated volume-based waste bags or standard sacks, or have large waste disposal stickers attached before being disposed of at household waste disposal sites.”

In cases where more than 5 tons of waste vinyl are disposed of in large quantities, collection can be requested from private consignment collection companies under the Korea Environment Corporation, and the county provides collection compensation (120 to 180 KRW per kilogram) depending on the type and amount. Small amounts of less than 5 tons should be requested for collection at the town or township offices to prevent environmental pollution.

Kwon Taek-soon, Director of the Resource Circulation Division, emphasized, “Illegal burning and landfilling of waste vinyl severely pollutes the rural environment,” and urged, “We ask farmers to actively participate in environmental protection by properly disposing of waste vinyl in a timely manner.”
