Gijang-gun to Hold the 5th Gijang Green Onion and Pajeon Promotion Event

Geographical Indication No. 105 Registered: Gijang Green Onion Information

Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) will hold the "5th Gijang Green Onion and Pajeon Promotion Event" for two days from the 9th to the 10th at the parking lot site of Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlet.

This event is organized by the Gijang Green Onion Agricultural Cooperative Corporation to commemorate the registration of Gijang Green Onion as Geographical Indication No. 105 and to promote its excellent quality.

During the event, various programs will be held where visitors can taste and enjoy Gijang Green Onion, including ▲ cooking and selling Gijang Pajeon (one pajeon for 10,000 KRW, with makgeolli or a beverage provided per pajeon purchase per person) ▲ discounted sales of Gijang Green Onion (peeled green onions and soil-grown green onions) and green onion kimchi ▲ and sales of local agricultural and specialty products.

Jeong Jong-bok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, "Gijang Green Onion is famous for its distinctive taste and aroma, influenced by the sea breeze that blows throughout the year," and added, "I hope many people visit to taste and enjoy Gijang Green Onion and have the opportunity to experience its excellence."

Gijang Green Onion was certified for its historicity, fame, local characteristics, and geographical features, completing its registration as Geographical Indication No. 105 in March 2018. It has established itself as the only domestically registered agricultural product with geographical indication among green onions.
