Structural Rescue and Emergency Medical Services, Full Support for Victims
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will activate a government countermeasure support headquarters to assist in the search and rescue of missing persons and the handling of the accident caused by the fishing vessel sinking in the waters off Jeju on the 8th.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the day, the countermeasure support headquarters plans to establish a communication system between the Central Accident Response Headquarters and the Regional Disaster Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, and will make every effort to support rescue, first aid, and victims.
The countermeasure support headquarters is headed by the Director of the Social Disaster Division of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and is composed of a situation management general team, an on-site response cooperation team including the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of National Defense, Korea Coast Guard, National Fire Agency, National Police Agency, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and an on-site recovery support team.
Earlier that day, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety dispatched an on-site situation manager to support on-site response and recovery.
Lee Hangyeong, Director of the Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters, held a situation assessment meeting with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Coast Guard, Fire Department, Police, and Jeju Province, urging related agencies to participate in naval search and rescue, expand the search area, and provide police equipment support.
