Wando-gun "Full Effort to Achieve 'Zero Wildfires' in Autumn"

Entry Restrictions and Trail Closures... Strict Punishment for Illegal Activities
'Wildfire Prevention Campaign Period' Set Until December 29

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 8th that it has designated the period until December 29 as the "Autumn Wildfire Prevention Period" and will make every effort to prevent wildfires with the goal of achieving zero wildfires.

According to the county, to ensure rapid initial response in case of wildfire occurrence, a wildfire suppression helicopter will be operated, and wildfire prevention campaigns and reward programs for wildfire prevention reporting will be promoted. Major causes of wildfires include illegal burning of rice paddies, fields, and garbage, arson by visitors, and cigarette butts, among which about 70% of wildfires occur due to garbage burning activities in areas adjacent to forests.

In addition, to raise public awareness, banners will be hung at the entrances of major hiking trails, and promotional activities such as wildfire prevention education targeting vulnerable areas (eup and myeon) will be conducted.

Park Eun-jae, Director of the Forest Recreation Division of Wando-gun, said, "We hope everyone follows wildfire prevention rules, and we will do our best to protect valuable forest resources and lives from wildfire disasters."
