Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held the '2024 Yeongdeok-gun Wildfire Watchers Launch Ceremony' at the Yeongdeok-gun Community Center on the 7th and has entered a wildfire prevention response system.
On this day, the wildfire watchers adopted a resolution to fulfill their duties to protect the lives and property of the residents at the forefront of wildfire prevention.
They also conducted job training for establishing a rapid response system and initial firefighting in case of wildfire occurrence, as well as specialized wildfire education for safe wildfire suppression.
In particular, Yeongdeok-gun held a lecture on practicing a culture of greetings at this launch ceremony to reduce complaints that may arise during wildfire monitoring activities and to establish and spread a healthy greeting culture.
County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol said, “The reason no major wildfires have occurred since the 8th elected administration is largely due to the thorough wildfire monitoring and initial firefighting efforts by the wildfire watchers and the specialized prevention firefighting team,” and urged, “Please do your best with a sense of mission to protect the precious lives of residents and forest resources.”
Yeongdeok-gun has completed preparations for early wildfire detection and rapid initial response by leasing a medium-sized helicopter for wildfire suppression and establishing and operating a wildfire ICT (Information and Communication Technology) monitoring system.
