On the 8th, the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council carried out a rural labor assistance activity to help persimmon farms struggling with labor shortages in the fall and to practice local love.
On this day, Chairman Choi and about 40 staff members from the council's secretariat visited a persimmon farm located in Saengnim-myeon, Gimhae City, helping with the sorting of astringent persimmons and internal tasks. They took the time to understand the difficulties and efforts farmers face on-site and to appreciate the value of agricultural products.
The farm owner who received help expressed gratitude, saying, "It was difficult to find labor during the busy autumn harvest, and I felt overwhelmed, but receiving help has been a great support."
In response, Chairman Choi said, "The labor shortage in rural areas is an important issue that must be resolved for the sustainable agriculture and economy of our region. We ask for the active participation and interest of the residents, and let us work together to solve the difficulties of rural areas."
Meanwhile, the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council is participating in rural labor assistance activities through each standing committee to provide practical help to small-scale farms.
