Yulhee, a former member of the group Laboum, has filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband FT Island's Choi Minhwan, seeking custody, alimony, and property division. Yang Soyoung, a divorce specialist lawyer handling the case, commented on the matter.
On the 7th, Lawyer Yang spoke on her YouTube channel 'Yangdamso,' saying, "I have taken on Yulhee's case. First, the agency contacted me." She continued, "They asked if it would be possible to change the custody holder, and I said, 'Depending on the details, there is a possibility of change, but it might not happen. However, it would be good to try the lawsuit.'"
She added, "I heard that when deciding the custody holder during the divorce, there was an agreement that Yulhee would take the children soon," and said, "There seems to be a good chance of winning." She further explained, "Even after the divorce, seeing Yulhee's visitation and involvement in raising the children, she can practically be considered the custody holder," and said, "Since Yulhee is not completely separated from the children, even if she is designated as the custody holder as is, it would not be a significant change for the children."

However, she predicted that Choi Minhwan being investigated on prostitution charges would not greatly affect the custody decision. Lawyer Yang said, "What is unfortunate is that if Yulhee had sought legal advice before the divorce, she could have claimed property division and alimony," adding, "With that amount, she could have secured a home for the children, but it seems she was not aware of her rights. Once a custody holder is designated, it is difficult to change." She concluded, "Once the children adapt to the situation, the court has to be cautious," and added, "It does not matter if the custody holder is a full-time homemaker with limited financial resources. Since raising children inevitably incurs expenses, the primary custodian can receive child support from the non-custodial parent and still be the main caregiver."
Previously, Yulhee and Choi Minhwan married in 2018 and separated last December after about five years. On the 23rd of last month, Lee Jinho, a YouTuber and former entertainment reporter, claimed, "The biggest reason for their divorce was Yulhee's neglect of the family." The next day, Yulhee revealed on her YouTube channel, "Choi Minhwan frequented entertainment establishments and engaged in prostitution during their marriage, which led to the divorce." It is known that she recently filed a mediation request at the Seoul Family Court for custody change, alimony, and property division.
