Restrained and Isolated... Under Investigation by Incheon Airport Police Unit
An incident occurred on a Korean Air flight from Bangkok, Thailand to Incheon, where a foreign passenger caused a disturbance by insisting on sitting in a crew-only emergency exit seat.
According to industry sources on the 8th, at around 9:30 PM local time on the 7th, on flight KE658 departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand and arriving at Incheon Airport at approximately 4:45 AM the same day, a foreign male passenger identified as Mr. A caused a disturbance and was subdued by crew members and passengers.
During the flight, Mr. A sat unauthorized in a crew-only seat near the emergency exit. The crew noticed this and repeatedly requested that he return to his assigned seat. However, Mr. A refused, shouted at the crew, and threatened by approaching the emergency exit door.
In response, the crew repeatedly warned him of violations of the Aviation Security Act and, following the captain’s instructions, restrained Mr. A. He was then isolated in a separate area away from other passengers.
The aircraft was an Airbus 330 model carrying 238 passengers. Immediately after landing, Mr. A was handed over to the Incheon Airport Police for investigation.
A Korean Air official stated, "We will take strong measures against any illegal acts that threaten safety during flight operations."
