Yoon's First Statement After Addressing the Public
"Will Communicate with the Presidential Office for Implementation"
Immediate Promotion of Special Inspector Appointment Process
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, stated on the 8th regarding President Yoon Seok-yeol's national address and press conference, "The President apologized for the current situation yesterday, promised the public personnel reshuffle, suspension of Kim Geon-hee's activities, and unconditional appointment of the Special Inspector General," adding, "To put this into practice, the party will follow public sentiment more closely and communicate and persuade the Presidential Office more than before."
This was Han's first statement through his social media (SNS) since President Yoon's address the previous day. As Han's statement was delayed, some speculated that he might have some dissatisfaction with the President's address.
Han first judged that President Yoon had made a "national apology" through the press conference the day before. He also interpreted that some of his demands had been partially answered.
Han emphasized, "What is now important is to implement measures concretely and swiftly in line with public sentiment," and announced that the procedure for appointing the Special Inspector General would be immediately pursued. President Yoon had said at the press conference the previous day, "If the National Assembly recommends, I will certainly appoint," and Han judged that the President accepted this.
At the press conference, President Yoon said regarding the appointment of the Special Inspector General, "If the National Assembly recommends two candidates, the President appoints one of them. If the National Assembly recommends, the President cannot refuse to appoint."
