Paju Unjeong Lake Park and Geumchon Wonang-gil Public Parking Lots Converted to Paid Parking

Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 8th that starting from the 11th, the Unjeong Lake Park public parking lot (253 spaces) and Geumchon Wonang-gil public parking lot (122 spaces) will be converted to paid parking.

These parking lots were completed at the end of August and have been open for free use since September. The city established the ‘Paju City Integrated Parking Portal Linked System,’ which enables unmanned payment and online fee reduction applications during the free period.

Before the transition to paid parking, an administrative notice regarding the fee implementation was issued in October. The city plans to officially start paid parking from the 11th after addressing operational improvements identified during the free period.

The parking fee is free for the first 10 minutes per visit, 500 KRW for the first 30 minutes, and 500 KRW for every 30 minutes thereafter.

With this conversion to paid public parking, it is expected that long-term vehicle abandonment will be prevented, and the turnover rate of parking spaces will improve, leading to more efficient management of public parking lots.

Jung Young-ok, Director of the Parking Management Division, stated, “We will continue to improve citizens’ convenience by providing parking spaces to alleviate local parking difficulties and revitalize commercial areas. Paju City prioritizes citizens’ safety and will promote parking policies to prevent traffic congestion caused by illegal roadside parking, enhance pedestrian safety, and secure emergency vehicle routes.”
