On the 6th in Miryang, 7th in Yangsan, and 11th at Busan Campus and Local Children's Centers
Tasting Woori Tteok, Making Eco Bags, Experiencing Folk Games... Cultural Heritage Exhibition and Viewing
The Pusan National University Museum will hold an experiential event on the 11th to commemorate Farmers' Day, aiming to honor and widely promote our traditional culture.
The event offers various folk game experiences such as tasting traditional rice cakes, making eco-bags, and playing Yutnori, Tuho, archery, and Jegichagi, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience traditional culture through all five senses.
The Pusan National University Museum (Director Sangtaek Lim, Professor of Archaeology) will celebrate the 29th Farmers' Day (November 11) by hosting the 'Farmers' Day and Folk Games Festival' event on the 11th at the museum area of the Busan campus and at a local children's center in Geumjeong-gu, starting at 11 a.m. This follows events held on the 6th at the Miryang campus and the 7th at the Yangsan campus, where traditional rice cakes will be shared and traditional culture experienced.
Farmers' Day is a legal commemorative day set on November 11, represented by the Chinese characters for soil '土土' and expressed as '十一十一' (11/11).
This year, with support from NH Nonghyup Bank's Pusan National University branch, which is working hard for the revival and development of Korean agriculture facing great difficulties due to abnormal climate and aging, a richer event has been prepared. In particular, traditional rice cakes and various experiential materials will be provided to over 350 vulnerable youth from 14 local children's centers in Geumjeong-gu, Busan, where Pusan National University is located, offering a balanced learning opportunity about the importance of agriculture and traditional culture.
This event is an open event supported by the Ministry of Education's '2024 National University Development Project,' allowing anyone to participate. Activities include tasting various traditional rice cakes (4 types), decorating 'My Own Mini Eco-Bag' (3 types) inspired by the folk cultural heritage held by the Pusan National University Museum, and experiencing folk games such as Yutnori, Tuho, archery, and Jegichagi. The mini eco-bags will feature the museum's official characters, 'Buri and Suri.'
Notably, the Busan campus experience will take place at the newly reopened Saebyeokdeul in front of the Pusan National University Museum, which completed remodeling on October 28. Along with the experiences, visitors can enjoy meaningful time viewing special exhibitions such as 'Masterpieces, Leaving the Storage' and permanent exhibitions like 'Cultural Heritage, Reviving Memories.'
Director Sangtaek Lim of the Pusan National University Museum said, "I hope this event will be a meaningful time to reflect on the importance of our agriculture and the significance of traditional culture. Especially, it is an important event to introduce the newly reopened museum after a long renovation and to share its development as a complex cultural space combining exhibitions and experiences."
