Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) held the ‘2024 Songpa-gu Childcare Workers' Day’ event on the 6th at the district office auditorium.

Despite the difficult conditions in the era of low birth rates, the district holds a special event every year to encourage teachers and staff who protect the childcare field.

This year’s event was held under the theme ‘Proud You, Hope of Childcare,’ organized by the Songpa-gu Public and Private Daycare Center Association. About 500 childcare families from 296 daycare centers attended, showing great interest.

Participants encouraged each other’s efforts throughout the year by watching videos of happy moments spent with children.

Commendations for childcare merit were also presented. A total of 80 outstanding facilities, directors, teachers, and staff received awards. In particular, the district expressed gratitude for the dedication of childcare workers by discovering cases on site, ranging from a young teacher aged 28 to a senior teacher aged 66, showing various forms of commitment.

Additionally, the event included a congratulatory performance by the jazz band ‘Rich Pie,’ a raffle, tea ceremony experience, and a photo booth with life-sized photo strips, creating a space for enjoyment and interaction.

The district is working to create a stable childcare environment by expanding the treatment of daycare center childcare staff to address the low birth rate issue. Since 2022, over three years, welfare expenses, holiday leave pay, long-term service allowances, and long-term service leave pay have been sequentially increased by up to 150% to implement practical improvements in treatment.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “I express my gratitude to childcare workers who care for children with sincerity and love,” adding, “We will continue to honor and respect childcare workers who quietly protect the field, strive to create a stable childcare environment, and support the realization of Songpa as a great place to raise children.”

"Supporting Everyone in the Low Birthrate Era"...Encouraging the Efforts of Childcare Workers in Songpa and Seocho Districts 2023 Seocho-gu Childcare Festival

Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will hold the ‘2024 Seocho-gu Childcare Festival’ on the 11th at 4:30 p.m. in the district office’s 2nd-floor auditorium with about 250 childcare staff who have done their best in the childcare field this year.

The district prepared this event to express gratitude for the efforts of childcare staff who provided high-quality childcare services to children throughout the year. The event includes a powerful dance stage, various participation programs, and an award ceremony to relieve stress and boost pride in their work.

The event will proceed in the order of ▲ congratulatory performance ▲ exemplary childcare staff award ceremony ▲ comedian Lee Jung-soo’s ‘Teacher Handshake Show.’ In the congratulatory performance, ‘Gambler Crew,’ the runner-up team of the ‘2023 Seoul B-Boy Festival,’ will present a street dance performance called ‘Street on the Top.’

Along with this, exemplary childcare staff awards will be given to a total of 72 people, including daycare center directors, childcare staff, other workers, and childcare specialists from the Childcare Support Center.

After the performance and award ceremony, comedian Lee Jung-soo’s ‘Teacher Handshake Show,’ hosted by the Seocho-gu Childcare Support Center, will take place. It is prepared to help participants relieve stress and enjoy themselves through talent shows and random quiz corners involving childcare staff.

Seocho-gu operates various programs for childcare staff, including the ‘Rest (休) Program’ for a brief healing break away from the childcare field, special education programs such as the ‘Seocho Infant and Toddler Class Professional Course’ and ‘Infant and Toddler Class Field Research in Seocho,’ and incentives for research groups to enhance teacher professionalism. In addition, the district is making multifaceted efforts to improve welfare and treatment for childcare teachers by supporting long-term service allowances, teaching material research expenses, and substitute teacher treatment allowances to encourage long-term service.

Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, “The reason we could carry out pioneering childcare projects unique to Seocho is thanks to the efforts and passion of childcare staff and directors,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create a better childcare environment so that they can work with pride and dignity.”
