President Yoon gave these instructions after receiving a report on the ship sinking accident near Biyangdo Island, Jeju, on the morning of the same day, according to presidential spokesperson Jeong Hye-jeon.
Earlier, at around 4:33 a.m., the Coast Guard received a report that the 129-ton purse seiner Geumseongho, registered in Busan, was sinking about 24 km northwest of Biyangdo Island, Jeju.
According to the Coast Guard, the number of crew members on board Geumseongho, according to the port entry and exit management system, is 27 (16 Koreans and 11 foreigners). Currently, 14 people have been rescued by nearby vessels, and the remaining 13 are missing.
