YGPA, Gwangyang Port Automated Terminal Infrastructure Construction Bid

Testbed Construction Project... Targeting Full Opening by 2029

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced on the 7th that the official announcement for the 'Port Automation Testbed (Gwangyang Port) Construction Project Infrastructure Works' has been posted on the Public Procurement Service's Nara Market.

Since 2022, YGPA has been promoting the 'Port Automation Testbed Construction Project,' one of the 120 national tasks, together with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and is accelerating efforts with the goal of full opening by 2029.

The infrastructure construction project is valued at 270 billion KRW and is divided into comprehensive works including civil engineering, architecture, electrical & information communication, and fire protection. The bidding will be conducted in a turnkey manner. The turnkey method means that the company awarded the project completes everything from design to construction and commissioning before handing it over to the client.

YGPA stated that it has been communicating with construction companies through various channels, including holding business briefings for domestic construction firms, to ensure smooth project progress.

Kwon Dong-jin, Vice President of Development Projects at YGPA, said, “For more efficient automated terminal operations, not only the handling equipment but also the infrastructure of this project is important,” adding, “We will strive to make Gwangyang Port a representative model of smart and automated ports in Korea.”

Meanwhile, the infrastructure construction project will evaluate the pre-qualification applications submitted by the 26th, begin basic design, undergo design review, and select the final successful bidder by April next year.
