The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education held the "4th Gwangju School Autonomy Forum" on the 6th at Urban Brook in Nam-gu, with over 80 participants including students, parents, and faculty members.

The forum began with a lecture by author Kim Jung-mi, writer of "Children of Gwaengiburi Village," followed by sharing the current status and achievements of school autonomy by each school, and a roundtable discussion.

In particular, students, parents, and faculty gathered in one place to share their experiences of practicing school autonomy under the theme "A community living together by relying on each other, that is the school!"

During the roundtable discussion, under the theme "School Autonomy, the Dream We Share," participants discussed the present and future of school autonomy, including ▲ the school autonomy we are creating ▲ the school autonomy we hope for ▲ gathering ideas for change.

Choi Jang-woo, a second-year student at Gwangju Seoseok High School who participated in the forum, said, "I learned about various school autonomy cases from different schools at the forum," and added, "It was a meaningful opportunity to talk about and learn how to improve school autonomy."

Superintendent Lee Jeong-seon stated, "To become an educational community that lives together by relying on each other, realizing school autonomy is essential," and added, "We will spare no effort to support all schools in becoming democratic school communities characterized by coexistence, autonomy, and growth."
