On the 7th, Seoul City, Ministry of Environment, LG Energy Solution, and others sign a business agreement
Cooperation to expand 'Battery Swap Station (BSS)' facilities in traditional markets
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) signed a "Business Agreement for the Distribution of Electric Two-Wheelers to Small Business Owners and the Creation of a Safe Usage Environment" on the 7th at the 3rd floor of the Seoul City Hall main building to increase the proportion of electric two-wheelers and take a step closer to a carbon-neutral city.
The agreement involved Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul City, Jongno-gu, the Ministry of Environment, LG Energy Solution Ltd., the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, Daedong Mobility Co., Ltd., and KR Motors Co., Ltd.
Currently, among the 24,468 two-wheelers registered in Dongdaemun-gu, 659 are electric two-wheelers, accounting for about 2.6% of the total.
A Dongdaemun-gu official explained, "The main goal of the agreement is to reduce carbon emissions by converting two-wheelers, which are essential for goods delivery by merchants in traditional markets and alleyway commercial districts, into eco-friendly electric two-wheelers."
Dongdaemun-gu, which operates two electric two-wheeler "Battery Swap Stations (BSS)" within the Cheongnyangni Wholesale Market in collaboration with LG Energy Solution, plans to actively cooperate to expand battery charging stations (BSS) to traditional markets.
According to the agreement, Seoul City, the Ministry of Environment, and private companies will support the purchase costs of electric two-wheelers for small business owners.
Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "This agreement has established a social foundation that can significantly reduce carbon emissions in the transportation sector," and added, "We will strive to encourage merchants who use two-wheelers as a means of goods delivery to participate in the transition to electric two-wheelers."
