On that morning, Myung wrote on his Facebook, "I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt by the publicly released recorded conversations due to my reckless words and actions." He also claimed, "Kang (Kang Hye-kyung), who exposed the recordings, demanded 20 million won under the pretext of hospital bills for her stepfather," and "Driver Kim threatened by demanding a proportional representation parliamentary seat."

Kang, who was the accounting manager for former lawmaker Kim Young-sun, previously released the recorded files to the media and raised suspicions that during the last presidential election, Myung conducted 'illegal opinion polls' for then-presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, and in return, former lawmaker Kim received a nomination for the June 2022 by-election, with Kim Geon-hee intervening in the nomination process.

Myung posted the message on SNS at 9:25 a.m., just before President Yoon Seok-yeol's national address and press conference, which began at 10 a.m. Myung is scheduled to appear at the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office on the 8th as a suspect for investigation.

Regarding Myung's claims, Kang's side stated, "Myung's words are not true, and the stories about money demands and proportional representation threats are factually incorrect," adding, "It seems like they are trying to target driver Kim and me, but we see no need to respond and will take legal action."

It is also known that Myung conveyed a separate apology to Ham Seong-duk, Dean of the Graduate School of Political Studies at Kyonggi University, on the same day. According to a recording recently released by the Democratic Party of Korea, Myung mentioned in a phone call with an acquaintance in August 2021, "Ham Seong-duk calls me 'Mireukbosal' (Maitreya Bodhisattva). Make him president."

Myung is scheduled to appear at the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office on the 8th for investigation.
