Mayor Jeong Jang-seon: "Pyeongtaek's Role as a Core Security and Advanced Industry City is Important"
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province successfully concluded the '2024 Pyeongtaek International Peace and Security Forum' held on the 7th at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul.
The forum, held under the theme of 'The Situation on the Korean Peninsula After the U.S. Presidential Election,' was attended by Jeong Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, Kang Jeong-gu, Chairman of the Pyeongtaek City Council, Cho Tae-yeol, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Hong Ki-won, member of the Democratic Party of Korea.

The event featured a keynote speech by Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), and special speeches on the universal values of the Korea-U.S. alliance by Park Young-sun, former Minister of SMEs and Startups, and Wi Seong-rak, member of the Democratic Party.
In 'Session 1,' Masang Yoon, President of the Korean Association of International Studies, Kim Hyun-wook, Director of the Sejong Institute, Leif Eric Easley, Professor at Ewha Womans University’s Department of International Studies, and Narushige Michishita, Professor at the Graduate School of Policy Studies in Japan, participated in a discussion on 'Northeast Asian Strategic Competition and the Korea-U.S. Alliance.'
'Session 2,' themed 'The Core of the Economic Security Era: Directions for the Semiconductor Industry,' included Kyung Hee-kwon, Research Fellow at the Industrial Research Institute’s New Industry Division, Kwon Seok-jun, Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University, Kim Jeong-ho, Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at KAIST, and Seo Gwang-seok, Professor in the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at Seoul National University, who shared their insights.
Mayor Jeong said, "This forum was a meaningful time to discuss ways to newly define Pyeongtaek City's role as a core of security on the Korean Peninsula and as a leading city in advanced industries."
