There is a prospect that President Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election could be a positive factor for financial stocks and industries where regulatory frameworks are important.
On the 7th, Korea Investment & Securities analyzed the impact of President Trump's election victory on the overall financial industry based on the outlook of local U.S. securities firms in its report titled 'Sleepless in USA.'
According to the report, while market volatility may increase in the coming months, the inauguration of the second Trump administration is expected to be a significant positive factor for financial stocks and industries where regulatory frameworks are crucial.
In fact, over the past few months, as the likelihood of Trump's election increased, 84% of financial stocks outperformed the market. The largest gains were seen in stock brokerage, consumer finance, GSEs (Government-Sponsored Enterprises), banks, and independent M&A advisory firms, and stock prices are expected to continue rising even after the election.
From a fundamental perspective, the Trump administration is expected to have a positive impact on deregulation in the financial sector going forward. Beneficiary industries within finance include banks, consumer finance, stock brokerage, and real estate title insurance.
Korea Investment & Securities launched the 'Sleepless in USA' service in March in partnership with the comprehensive U.S. financial company Stifel Financial Corp. The service carefully selects key stock reports with high investor interest and information value from the latest reports by local U.S. analysts published on the same day, providing them twice daily at 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to Korean investors.
Since the service began in March, Korea Investment & Securities has analyzed 400 U.S.-listed companies in eight months. More than 1,400 reports have been published. To provide only valuable stocks and information, the selection process is meticulous. Stocks are selected based on market capitalization and trading volume, focusing on six key sectors of high investor interest according to the standard industry classification, including information technology, communication services, and healthcare. Stocks are also reselected quarterly considering domestic investor interest areas and market changes.
A representative from Korea Investment & Securities said, "When corporate events such as earnings announcements and Investor Days or major political and social issues such as elections and legal amendments occur, related reports are immediately released locally in the U.S., but it is difficult to access them promptly in Korea due to the time difference. The Sleepless in USA service provides more than 10 reports twice daily, aligned with the U.S. stock pre-market and after-market sessions, helping investors quickly respond to market changes."
