Customized Training Conducted to Enhance Competencies of Small Library Operators
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 7th that it will operate the '2024 Small Library Academy' for operators and volunteers of public and private small libraries in the city.
This academy aims to strengthen the capabilities of practitioners by covering various topics from basic operations to future roles, based on feedback collected through surveys of operators of public and private small libraries in the city.
The academy will be held a total of 8 times from the 7th of this month to December 5th, providing customized education for both new and existing operators.
The first session will cover the basics of operation and how to start reading culture programs, followed by practical topics such as ▲ how to establish a one-year operation plan ▲ sustainable reading culture programs for apartment small libraries ▲ the effects of reading on the brain ▲ picture book activities for children and seniors.
The final session will feature a healing bookbinding activity for operators who have worked hard throughout the year, allowing participants to reflect on the year and spend meaningful time.
A library official stated, “This academy will be a great opportunity to lay the foundation for new small libraries to become self-sustaining future small libraries,” and added, “We hope it will be of practical help to small library operators and volunteers.”
