Established in 2015, the 'Ddabok Reading Cafe' is a small library within the GOP, equipped with built-in bookshelves, desks, and chairs, and stocked with various books such as humanities literature, travel guides, and educational comics. It was created to promote a reading culture among GOP soldiers who have limited access to reading materials and to encourage lifelong reading habits.
The books purchased and supported by Yeoncheon-gun are new releases worth approximately 2 million KRW, selected based on soldiers' requests, covering diverse fields including literature, society, science, and history. Through this donation, it is expected that the use of the reading cafe by soldiers will be further activated and contribute to the development of a reading culture.
Commander Kim Jin-hak said, "We are grateful for the donation of good books to the Ddabok Reading Cafe," adding, "Reading during military service will greatly help soldiers achieve their dreams and goals and support their life in the barracks."
