'2024 Michelin Guide Busan' Published, Citizens Enjoy Elevated Gourmet City Atmosphere
Creating a 'Global Gourmet Tourism City' Through Citizen Participation Events and Innovative Policy Development
Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) and Busan Tourism Organization (President Lee Jung-sil) will hold the ‘Small Gourmet Picnic TASTY Busan Dining’ event for the general public at Domohon on the 11th.
With the publication of the ‘2024 Michelin Guide Busan,’ which has made Busan known worldwide as a gourmet city, the city planned a fine dining event for the general public to share the heightened atmosphere with citizens and gain momentum to develop into a ‘global gourmet tourism city.’
To increase the general public’s interest and accessibility to gourmet cuisine, the city specially selected ‘Domohon,’ a unique venue that was formerly used as a market manager’s residence and was reborn this year as an unusual conference facility.
The event will offer special menus from restaurants selected in the ‘Michelin Guide Busan’ and recently spotlighted local restaurant chefs to citizens and tourists, providing enjoyment through interesting talks about gourmet cuisine.
Participating as ‘Michelin Guide Selected Restaurants’ are Chef Lee Gyu-jin of ‘Ramzy,’ which is based on French cuisine, Chef Jeon Ji-sung of ‘Lessongs,’ and Chef Jo Su-hwan of ‘Le Dohe,’ which is based on Korean cuisine.
Additionally, Chef Hwang Chang-hwan of ‘Shin Do Market,’ a local favorite recently gaining attention for its steak-centered dishes, will also participate to offer special collaboration menus to citizens and tourists.
Besides the meal, there will be an engaging talk session about the served dishes and Busan’s gourmet scene, providing enjoyment to all participants.
The talk session will be hosted by Chef Park Jun-woo, the runner-up of ‘MasterChef Korea’ and recently gaining attention as the ‘Black and White Chef.’
Starting with this year’s event, the city plans to develop various gourmet events and innovative policies involving citizen participation in 2025 to further promote the creation of a ‘global gourmet tourism city.’
Busan, aiming to be a ‘global hub city,’ is preparing new initiatives particularly based on gourmet tourism in the tourism sector. The city expects this event to be a new opportunity for its leap toward becoming a ‘global gourmet tourism city.’
The first round of event applications, conducted through the Eventus website on the 4th, was closed within three minutes. Detailed information about the event can be found on Instagram’s ‘Busan-e Gamyeon’ and other platforms.
Park Geun-rok, Director of the City Tourism MICE Bureau, said, “The high interest and response from citizens confirmed through this event application will be the driving force for the growth of ‘Gourmet City Busan,’” adding, “From 2025, we will accelerate efforts to establish a ‘global gourmet tourism city.’”
