Pocheon City had restored cadastral records lost during the Korean War using detailed survey maps created in the 1910s land (forest) survey project, but as the city developed, discrepancies arose between the cadastral records and the actual land use status.

Accordingly, Pocheon City has been promoting the cadastral readjustment project annually, starting with Majon-ri, Gasan-myeon, under the 'Special Act on Cadastral Readjustment' enacted in 2012. The project targeted densely populated urban areas such as Sineup-dong, Uncheon-ri in Yeongbuk-myeon, Yangmun-ri in Yeongjung-myeon, which experienced boundary disputes due to indiscriminate construction activities, as well as the area near Galbichon in Jangam-ri, Idong-myeon.

The city’s achievements were recognized with citations from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2022, Gyeonggi Province in 2023, and this year, the prestigious Presidential Citation.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “This Presidential Citation is a valuable achievement made possible through active collaboration between Pocheon city officials and LX Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation, as well as the cooperation of citizens. Going forward, based on our experience in actively resolving disputes in areas with cadastral discrepancies, we will do our best to promote the cadastral readjustment project so that more citizens can benefit before the special act expires in 2030.”
