As economic growth has made wealth inheritance more common, the demand for tax advisory services for business succession and asset transfer has increased. Recently, law firms have also seen a growing need for legal support in taxation, including inheritance, gifts, and tax-saving strategy design.

In line with this trend, YK has launched the Tax Group to begin providing customized tax legal services tailored to the needs of corporate and individual clients.

YK has already established a one-team system to provide services such as tax and customs appeals, responses to tax audits, litigation related to tax crime penalties, and tax advisory services related to business and asset succession. The firm possesses differentiated personnel and expertise in fields closely related to taxation, including finance, M&A, and construction and real estate.

Based on its accumulated experience and human resources, the Tax Group plans to offer comprehensive solutions in specialized areas including taxation. In particular, it is enhancing its on-site response capabilities by strengthening its network with major public institutions such as the National Tax Service, based on a direct legal network connected to 32 branch offices nationwide.

On this foundation, the group provides comprehensive legal services including ▲ representation in tax appeals (correction claims, review requests, litigation representation) ▲ representation in civil and criminal cases arising from tax disputes ▲ tax advisory services (consulting on various transactions such as commercial transactions, M&A, and construction) ▲ responses to tax and customs audits and dispute representation ▲ comprehensive tax advisory services covering business and asset succession as well as international inheritance and gifts.

The head of the Tax Group is Representative Lawyer Han Man-su (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 13). Representative Han has been recognized as a tax law expert, having handled tax advisory services for over 20 years at Kim & Chang and Yulchon, and was even considered a candidate for the National Tax Service Commissioner.

He has also contributed to government tax reform as an advisor to the Ministry of Finance and Economy's Taxation Office, a member of the Tax System Development Deliberation Committee of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and a member of the Tax System Development Deliberation Committee of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. He was the key figure behind major M&As such as the sale of Lehman Brothers' non-performing loans at Woori Bank and the sale of Seoul Finance Center to the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC).

The deputy head of the group is Representative Lawyer Kim Do-hyung (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 30). Representative Kim is a former deputy prosecutor who served as head of the foreign affairs divisions at Busan District Prosecutors' Office, Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, and Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, holding all three major foreign affairs chief prosecutor positions. He gained a reputation as an expert in foreign affairs and public security during his time as a prosecutor.

Advisor Kwon Soon-il, a former Supreme Court Justice (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 14), also participates to provide support. Additionally, expertise is enhanced by partners including Choi Jin-hong (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 39) from the Financial Supervisory Service, Lim Woo-jung (Bar Exam 1st) from Deloitte Anjin Accounting Firm, Joo Seung-yeon (Bar Exam 3rd), a former National Tax Service team leader, as well as lawyers Lee Jun-yeop (Bar Exam 5th), Jo Won-hyung (Bar Exam 8th), Heo Shin-geol (Bar Exam 8th), Kwon Min-ji (Bar Exam 8th), accountant Park Sung-ah, and customs experts Lee Seung-gyu and Sung Haeng-je.
