Ponyjeong Foundation Awards Scholarships to Vietnamese University Students

Scholarship Certificate Awarded at Hochiminh National University and Hanoi National University
Reunion Day for Former Ponyjeong Scholars
1,060 Scholarships Granted in Vietnam Since 2007

The Ponyjeong Foundation announced on the 7th that it held an event to present scholarship certificates to local Vietnamese university students and invited past scholarship recipients for an exchange gathering.


Ponyjeong Foundation Awards Scholarships to Vietnamese University Students The Pony Jung Foundation held a scholarship certificate awarding ceremony and the 1st Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City Pony Jung Scholars Reunion Day on the 4th (local time) at the Lotte Hotel in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. From the fourth person from the left: Son In-seon, President of the Ho Chi Minh Korean Association; Park Hang-seo, former head coach of the Vietnam men's national football team; Mrs. Kim Na-young, wife of Jung Mong-kyu, Chairman of the Pony Jung Foundation; Mrs. Park Young-ja, wife of the late Jung Se-young, Honorary Chairman of HDC Group; Jung Mong-kyu, Chairman of the Pony Jung Foundation; and Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Vice President of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

On the 4th (local time), the Ponyjeong Foundation and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City held the 18th Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony and the 1st Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City Ponyjeong Scholars Reunion Day at the Lotte Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.


On this day, the Ponyjeong Foundation invited 35 new scholarship recipients from Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City and 100 past scholars. Attendees included Ponyjeong Foundation Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Vice President of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, deans of various colleges, former Vietnam men's national football team coach Park Hang-seo, and Son In-seon, President of the Ho Chi Minh Korean Association.


The Ponyjeong Foundation began selecting scholarship recipients at Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City in 2007, and these scholars have grown into key talents leading Vietnam's national development in various fields.


Chairman Chung Mong-gyu of the Ponyjeong Foundation said, "Through the Reunion Day event, I hope the network among past scholars expands and the bond as 'Ponyjeong Scholars' strengthens. I also hope that Ponyjeong Vietnam scholars become a bridge connecting Korea and Vietnam, grow into leaders guiding a better future, and carry on the innovation and challenging spirit of Honorary Chairman Chung Se-young of Ponyjeong."


On the 5th, the Ponyjeong Foundation also awarded scholarship certificates to 35 newly selected scholars at Hanoi National University. The foundation provides a $600 scholarship to Vietnamese scholars to allow them to focus solely on their studies. Since 2023, the number of recipients has increased by 10, selecting 70 scholars annually.


Since starting the Vietnam scholarship program in 2007, the Ponyjeong Foundation has supported 1,060 Vietnamese scholars to date. Every year, two outstanding Ponyjeong Vietnam scholars are selected to receive support for master's programs at Korea University’s Graduate School and International Graduate School through the 'Ponyjeong Invitation Scholarship Program.' Additionally, the 'Ponyjeong Exchange Scholarship Program' offers Korean language major Ponyjeong Vietnam scholars opportunities to study in Korea.
