190,000-Pyeong Scale within the National Defense Industrial Complex
The National Defense Industrial Complex in Nonsan, Chungnam, has been designated as an Opportunity Development Zone, which is expected to accelerate corporate attraction and solidify its position as a cutting-edge defense industry city.
According to Nonsan City on the 7th, for the first time in the country, a 630,000-square-meter area within the National Defense Industrial Complex, with defense industry as its main content, has been designated as an Opportunity Development Zone by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
According to the city, a total investment of 144.7 billion KRW is planned by six companies in the fields of military supplies and defense industry.
The city believes that the defense and military supply industry will become a new growth engine for Nonsan, serving as a key to overcoming the crisis of population decline and achieving balanced regional development.
The city has actively promoted the necessity and justification of this designation by visiting government departments, the Local Era Committee, and specialized research institutes.
In particular, by focusing on 'defense industry' as content, the city differentiated itself through attracting corporate investment, fostering the defense industry, improving transportation accessibility, nurturing human resources, and supporting residential infrastructure, all under the theme of defense and military supply.
Additionally, the city visited defense-related companies and conducted sales administration to attract them to the Nonsan National Defense Industrial Complex.
Mayor Baek Seonghyeon stated, "Since the 8th popularly elected administration, Nonsan has been overcoming the crisis of population decline by focusing on the defense and military supply industry and presenting a new vision for the future," adding, "Through bold innovation and initiatives, we have successfully attracted defense-related institutions and companies."
He continued, "We will create a virtuous cycle of population growth by generating quality jobs, attracting young people, and establishing a new residential environment," and added, "We will open the future of Nonsan as the leading city of Korea's advanced defense and military supply industry."
The city plans to provide continuous and proactive follow-up management for companies attracted to the zone to ensure actual investment, and to discover various support measures to improve the investment environment.
Startups and newly established companies within the zone will receive a 100% corporate tax exemption for five years, and a 50% exemption for the following two years.
Additional incentives include corporate succession deductions (up to 100 billion KRW), a 100% property tax exemption for five years, and increased support ratios for local investment promotion subsidies.
