Samsung Electronics Hosts 'Silicon Valley Future Communication Summit'

Discussion on the Future of AI and Wireless Communication Convergence Technology
under the Theme of 'Future Communication in the AI Era'

On the 6th (local time), Samsung Electronics announced on the 7th that it held the "Silicon Valley Future Communications Summit" in Mountain View, Silicon Valley, USA, under the theme of "Future Communications in the AI Era."

Since the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) announced the 5G-Advanced standard last March, the industry expects the application of AI technology in the communications field to expand. In particular, as preparations for 6G communications are gaining momentum, interest in next-generation communication technologies utilizing AI is growing.

Samsung Electronics organized this event to share the vision and technological development achievements of communication systems applying AI technology. At this event, about 80 experts including major telecommunications operators, manufacturers, government agencies, and academic leaders from various countries were invited to deeply discuss research directions and technologies for an AI-based communications revolution.

The event began with a keynote speech by industry experts on the "Future of Next-Generation Mobile Communications." Following this, invited lectures were held in three sessions: AI-Embedded Communications, Sustainability, and Innovations Leading Future Wireless. In the technology demonstration session, AI RAN technology jointly developed by Samsung Electronics and its partners was introduced. The demonstrated AI RAN technology applies AI to base station communication equipment (RAN) to upgrade key performance such as frequency and energy efficiency, optimizing base station quality, which attracted significant attention from attendees.

A Samsung Electronics official explained, "Through this event, we presented the direction of future communication technology research through the convergence of AI and wireless communication technologies and successfully exchanged global technological status."

Jung-ho Park, Executive Vice President of Samsung Research's Next-Generation Communications Research Center at Samsung Electronics, said, "Since the introduction of 5G, the communications market has increasingly emphasized not only performance improvements such as the adoption of innovative technologies like AI and energy efficiency enhancements but also the improvement of user experience. Starting with this Future Communications Summit, we will create a platform where industry and academic leaders can collaborate and strive to promote the advancement of communication technologies by continuously enhancing user experience value through ongoing research on the convergence of AI and wireless communication technologies."
