20 IVF Cycles and 5 Artificial Insemination Cycles Supported... 30% Out-of-Pocket Rate
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 7th that it will expand the support for infertility treatment costs, which was previously provided 25 times per lifetime, to 25 times per birth (20 times for in vitro fertilization and 5 times for artificial insemination).
Accordingly, the number of infertility treatment support sessions will be changed from 25 times per infertile couple to 25 times per birth, and the out-of-pocket rate for infertility treatment under health insurance, which was previously 30% for those under 45 and 50% for those 45 and older, will be unified to a 30% out-of-pocket rate regardless of age.
Couples who have already given birth through infertility treatments can also receive new support for 25 sessions (20 times for in vitro fertilization and 5 times for artificial insemination) if they wish to conceive again.
A health center official stated, "With this expanded support, we hope that infertile couples will bear less financial burden for treatment costs and that more families can realize their dreams of pregnancy and childbirth," adding, "We also expect this to greatly help address the low birthrate issue."
