Incheon Office of Education's 5.3 Trillion Won Budget for Next Year: "Focusing on Education to Open an Era of Student Success"

Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 6th that next year's main budget has been organized at 5.2915 trillion KRW, an increase of 3.6% (184.4 billion KRW) compared to this year.


The Office of Education reflected ▲Incheon Education for Student Success Era with 531.9 billion KRW ▲School Facility Improvement Projects for Transition to Future Educational Environment with 256 billion KRW ▲School Financial Support for Activation of School Autonomy with 640.3 billion KRW ▲Free and Welfare Support for Equal Educational Starting Line with 708.5 billion KRW, among others.

By sector, the five major educational policies for Incheon Education for Student Success Era include 'Growing Inclusive Education' with 344.9 billion KRW, 'Digital Ecological Education' with 61.9 billion KRW, 'Safe and Secure Responsible Education' with 61.8 billion KRW, and 'Career, College Admission, and Vocational Education' with 52.6 billion KRW.


Additionally, school facility improvement projects include new and expanded schools with 72.3 billion KRW, heating and cooling facility improvements (51.5 billion KRW), modernization of school meals (28.4 billion KRW), and multipurpose auditorium expansions (21.5 billion KRW). For school financial support projects, 400.7 billion KRW was allocated for public schools' basic operating expenses and 239.6 billion KRW for private school financial support.


Along with this, plans include investing 277.4 billion KRW in free school meals, 199 billion KRW in tuition for Nuri Curriculum preschoolers and childcare fees for daycare centers, 42.2 billion KRW in after-school and Neulbom School support, 31.7 billion KRW in support for private kindergarten classes for ages 3-4, and 28 billion KRW for free education for 5-year-old private kindergarteners.


The Office of Education's budget proposal for next year is expected to be finalized at the plenary session on the 13th of next month after review by the Incheon City Council.


Do Seong-hoon, Superintendent of Incheon Education, stated, "The 2025 budget formulation focused on nurturing future talents under the theme of 'student-centered education, education that does not abandon any child, and education that grows according to each child's path.' We will take a step forward toward the era of student success."
