Representatives from Politics, Academia, Economy, Media, and Public Institutions Attend
Busan City is establishing the regional cooperation system "Busan Global Hub City Roundtable" to gather the capabilities and wisdom of the local community and strengthen communication and cooperation in order to create a truly "Global Hub City Busan."
The newly formed "Busan Global Hub City Roundtable" will include 25 participants representing various sectors of the region, such as politics, academia and legal circles, finance and economy, media, public institutions, including heads of organizations and leaders.
The roundtable was organized to share the vision of "Global Hub City Busan" and to discuss and explore future development directions and key tasks together.
On the 7th at 2 p.m., the city will hold the "1st Busan Global Hub City Roundtable" in the main conference room of City Hall, presided over by Mayor Park Hyung-jun, with representatives from various sectors of the region in attendance.
At today’s first meeting, the progress and plans for promoting Busan Global Hub City will be shared, and each institution will have time to freely exchange opinions for the creation of Busan Global Hub City.
During this meeting, the city will share ▲the progress of Busan Global Hub City promotion ▲key contents of the special law ▲results of the one million signature campaign (1.6 million signatures delivered to the National Assembly) ▲operation plans for the roundtable, and request the wisdom and valuable opinions of the participating institutions for the enactment of the "Busan Global Hub City Special Act" and the establishment of development plans.
In particular, this meeting will be attended by the Busan City branches of the People Power Party and the Democratic Party of Korea, participating in a bipartisan cooperation toward the city’s core vision of "Global Hub City Busan." Additionally, innovative infrastructure institutions that will become the core of future Busan, such as the Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation and Korea Development Bank, will participate, making this meeting a key platform for setting regional development agendas and a cooperative network for the creation of Busan Global Hub City.
Furthermore, the meeting will cover various policy proposals from regional representatives to explore the development direction of Busan Global Hub City.
The Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation proposes ▲the operation of a dedicated task force (TF) for the preparation of the (tentatively named) Gadeokdo New Airport operation, Korea Development Bank suggests ▲policy financial support centered on the headquarters due to the expansion of the southern region organization, and BNK Financial Group proposes ▲strengthening exchanges (networking) with related institutions such as finance and economy sectors.
Korea Ocean Business Corporation presents ▲plans to revitalize ship finance digital asset trading, and Busan National University proposes ▲improvements to the visa system for international students to create a global educational environment.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “Busan Global Hub City is a new growth engine for South Korea that overcomes the unipolar dominance of the metropolitan area and is a strategy for innovative balanced development.” He added, “To realize a true Busan Global Hub City, it is necessary to gather and reflect the local community’s opinions on the enactment of the special law and the establishment of development plans.” He further said, “Taking this roundtable as an opportunity, we will activate a system that allows active communication and cooperation with leaders and representatives from various sectors leading the local community, accelerating the leap of ‘Global Hub City Busan’ together with the local community.”
