Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the 6th (local time) sent a congratulatory message to former Republican President Donald Trump, whose presidential election victory is virtually confirmed, and requested continued support for Ukraine.

President Zelensky stated on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), "Congratulations on President Trump's impressive election victory."

He added, "I remember meeting with former President Trump last September, where we discussed in detail our 'victory plan,' the strategic partnership between the U.S. and Ukraine, and ways to end Russia's aggression," and expressed gratitude for "President Trump's approach and commitment to 'peace through strength.'" He further mentioned, "This approach is a principle that can practically bring about a just peace for Ukraine," and expressed hope that "we can implement this together."

President Zelensky emphasized, "We look forward to a strong era of America under President Trump's decisive leadership and hope for continued bipartisan support for Ukraine." He also stated, "We are interested in developing mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation that benefits both countries," and added, "I look forward to discussing ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the United States and Ukraine."

With former President Trump's election victory, the Russia-Ukraine war, which has lasted for over two and a half years, is expected to enter a new phase. During the election campaign, former President Trump emphasized that he would end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking office. Although he did not present specific methods for peace, foreign media speculate that he might pressure Ukraine to cede territory or urge it to abandon NATO membership. Former President Trump holds the view that the current Western weapons and financial support cannot resolve the war.
