"Legislation to Distribute Over 75% of Fire Safety Grant Tax"

Yang Bu-nam, Introduces 'Local Allocation Tax Act Amendment'
"Expecting Firefighting Financial Stabilization and Public Safety Improvement"

"Legislation to Distribute Over 75% of Fire Safety Grant Tax" Yang Bu-nam 의원

With the submission of the amendment to the Fire Safety Grant Tax Act, which stipulates that the allocation ratio for the fire sector must be at least 75%, it is expected that the financial resources for firefighting will be expanded while reducing the financial burden on local governments.

On the 6th, Yang Bu-nam, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Gwangju Seo-gu Eul), announced that he had taken the lead in proposing the "Local Grant Tax Act Amendment" to ensure stable securing of local firefighting finances.

The amendment makes it possible to strengthen disaster response capabilities and guarantee the stability of expanding firefighting equipment and facilities by specifying the allocation ratio of the fire safety grant tax in the law.

The Local Grant Tax Act amendment proposed by Representative Yang legislates that the current regulation under the enforcement ordinance's supplementary provisions, which requires that at least 75% of project costs be used in the firefighting sector, be established as a law rather than a temporary provision.

Representative Yang said, "Firefighting agencies are responsible for public safety on the front lines," and added, "Stable securing of firefighting finances will provide firefighting services without regional disparities."

He also added, "Firefighters face dangers on the front lines every day," and said, "By legislating the fire safety grant tax ratio, it will provide predictability for the firefighting budget and greatly contribute to improving public safety, including firefighters."
