Daegu Urban Development Corporation (President Jeong Myeong-seop) held a volunteer activity to help with farm work on the 6th in Bugye-myeon, Gunwi-gun, Daegu, together with executives and employees of Gwangju Urban Corporation (President Kim Seung-nam).
This volunteer activity was the first event held to implement the 'Moonlight Alliance Social Contribution Activity Mutual Cooperation Agreement' signed by the two organizations in Gwangju last March. It was promoted to assist the labor shortage of apple farms in Bugye-myeon, Gunwi-gun, a sister city of Daegu Urban Development Corporation, in preparation for the autumn season.
Daegu Urban Development Corporation and Gwangju Urban Corporation are jointly conducting rural volunteer activities in Bugye-myeon, Gunwi-gun, Daegu, and are taking a commemorative photo.
About 20 executives and employees of Gwangju Urban Corporation, who participated in the volunteer activity jointly with labor and management, personally picked apples and communicated with local farmers about the condition and promotion of specialty products and the direction of mutual cooperation under the Moonlight Alliance. The event was conducted more meaningfully as an open discussion on overcoming regional extinction.
Daegu Urban Development Corporation plans to complete the volunteer farm work this month and purchase 2,000 kg of rice and 1,000 kg of apples, specialty products of the sister city, to continue sharing love activities targeting 200 vulnerable households in the sister city and Daegu area.
Jeong Myeong-seop, President of Daegu Urban Development Corporation, said, “I am pleased to have created a meaningful opportunity for communication through volunteer activities between Gwangju and Daegu employees.” He added, “As a local public enterprise, we will do our best to jointly respond to the crisis of regional extinction, practice ESG management, and fulfill social responsibility for the mutual development and coexistence of the two regions.”
