Two Citizens Gored by Bull... Suwon in Turmoil
In Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, there have been multiple incidents of citizens being injured by horned deer attacks.
According to Yonhap News on the 6th, at around 5:22 a.m., a report was received that "a woman was injured on her leg by a deer antler" on the walking trail near Gwanggyo Reservoir in Jangan-gu, Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province. A passerby who witnessed the accident called 119, and a woman in her 60s, Ms. A, who was injured on her leg, was transported to Ajou University Hospital Trauma Center for treatment. Fortunately, it is reported that her life is not in danger.
When the fire department arrived, the deer had already disappeared from the scene. There is a possibility that the deer is still roaming around the Suwon area. On an online community in the Suwon area, multiple eyewitness reports of "seeing a deer in Gwanggyo Park" have been posted, increasing public anxiety.
Earlier on the same day, at around 1 a.m., a deer appeared at Gwanggyo Lake Park in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City, about 6 km away from the previous location, and attacked a citizen, Mr. Choi (33), who was returning home, by goring him with its antlers. After being attacked, Mr. Choi fled from the deer and, with the help of passersby, called 119 and was transported to nearby Ajou University Hospital. He reportedly received treatment including suturing wounds after being injured on his left abdomen and right groin due to the deer attack.
In a phone interview with Yonhap News, Mr. Choi explained the situation, saying, "At the time, there was a deer about the size of a compact car standing in the park, so I was watching it as I passed by, but suddenly it charged and hit me with its antlers." He added, "The impact threw my body several meters, and my clothes were torn." He also said, "Even after the deer attacked, it stared at me for a while, so I ran away quickly," and expressed hope that similar incidents would not happen again. It has been reported that there are no deer farms near the locations where the incidents occurred. Suwon City is currently discussing related measures, including capture operations involving hunters.
