Reporting Available via Smartphones Starting December 2
Deogyang-gu, Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 6th that from December 2, a mobile service for reporting housing lease contracts using smartphones, tablet PCs, and other mobile devices will be provided.
The 'Housing Lease Contract Reporting System' is a system that mandates the reporting of housing lease contracts with a deposit exceeding 60 million KRW or monthly rent exceeding 300,000 KRW, and the report must be submitted within 30 days from the contract signing date.
Previously, reports could only be made by visiting the administrative welfare center in charge of the relevant housing area in person or online (PC) through the real estate transaction management system. However, a mobile service was pilot-operated in Daejeon and Sejong to allow landlords and tenants to report immediately at the site of the lease contract signing. The service will be gradually expanded, and Gyeonggi Province is scheduled to provide the service from December 2.
An official from the district said, "With the provision of a mobile reporting service that is not restricted by location or time, we hope that lease contract reports will be made to avoid disadvantages such as fines for non-reporting. We will continue to promote voluntary reporting through ongoing publicity."
Meanwhile, the guidance period for the 'Housing Lease Contract Reporting System,' which has been in effect since June 1, 2021, has been extended by one year to prevent confusion due to system changes, and fines have been waived for four years. The guidance period lasts until May 31, 2025. After the guidance period ends, failure to report will result in fines ranging from 40,000 KRW to up to 1 million KRW.
