‘A Journey to Find Myself’… Yeongyang-gun Multicultural Family Support Center Implements Emotional Support Program for Youth

The Gyeongbuk Yeongyang-gun Multicultural Family Support Center plans to conduct a youth emotional support program titled "A Journey to Find Myself" for middle school students from multicultural families. The program will be held at the Yeongyang-gun Community Childcare Sharing Center from November 5 to November 20, with six sessions in total, each lasting two hours starting at 5:30 PM.

This program is designed to help adolescents discover their strengths and advantages, enhance self-understanding and self-esteem through various activities, develop communication and empathy skills with peers, and learn healthy ways to express emotions, thereby supporting the psychological growth of adolescents during puberty.

The program was planned to assist youths in navigating the critical developmental task of adolescence by helping them find their identity and form a healthy self-awareness. It also provides children from multicultural families with opportunities to overcome confusion arising from diverse cultural backgrounds, understand themselves, and build a positive self-image.

A 14-year-old female participant, Jo Mo, expressed her anticipation by saying, "I have never deeply thought about myself before, but through this program, I want to learn about my strengths and advantages."

County Governor Oh Do-chang stated, "I hope this program will serve as an important turning point for multicultural family youths in forming their self-identity," adding, "We plan to expand various emotional support programs so that young people can continue to grow healthily."
