Pocheon City Hosts Humanities Lecture "With One Word from Lee Geum-hee, We..."

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 6th that it held the 2024 Pocheon Humanities Academy lecture titled "With a Word from Lee Geum-hee" at the Pocheon City Hall Grand Conference Room on the 5th.

This lecture was organized to promote the spread of humanities culture in Pocheon, a city known for its refined humanities, and featured announcer Lee Geum-hee as the guest speaker under the theme "With a Word from Lee Geum-hee."


Announcer Lee Geum-hee has appeared on broadcasting programs such as "Morning Yard," "Animal Theater Best Friend," and "Once in a While, You Have to Stop." Currently, she offers comfort to listeners through the radio program "A Good Day to Love, This is Lee Geum-hee."


The lecture began with an original poem inspired by Lee Geum-hee, introducing the speaker to a full house of 300 seats at the Pocheon City Hall Grand Conference Room.


Lee Geum-hee emphasized the importance of "conversation" and "a single word," stating that "only humans have survived by cooperating through communication." She explained the power of words by quoting the proverb "A single word can repay a debt of a thousand nyang," and shared a life lesson: "Trust not the lips that say they are happy, but the happy expression."


She also mentioned the importance of emotional independence, saying, "It is important to maintain emotional stability through activities that can be sustained daily."


Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "It was a precious time to realize how important 'words' and 'conversation' are in our lives," and added, "I hope the Pocheon Humanities Academy will enhance the humanities literacy of Pocheon citizens and serve as a stepping stone to further develop Pocheon as a humanities city."


Meanwhile, through the 2024 Pocheon Humanities Academy project, Pocheon City has invited lecturers from various fields, including communication expert Kim Chang-ok, veterinarian Seol Chae-hyun, instructor Lee Ji-young, psychiatrist Yang Jae-jin, and big data expert Song Gil-young, offering lectures on diverse topics. The final lecture of this year will be delivered by neuroscientist Dr. Jung Dong-sun.
