The World Institute of Kimchi (Director Jang Hae-chun), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, announced on the 6th that it will hold the "2nd WiKim Festival" on the 22nd at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, to promote outstanding research achievements on kimchi and the scientific and cultural excellence of kimchi.
This event is hosted and organized by the World Institute of Kimchi and supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the National Research Council of Science & Technology, the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, and the Korea Kimchi Association.
Under the theme "Fermentation Science, Entrust the Future of Kimchi!", the event will invite top experts from various fields including scientists, sociologists, science communicators, and star chefs to share fascinating stories about the present and future of kimchi.
Jang Hae-chun, Director of the World Institute of Kimchi, stated, "This event will be a valuable opportunity to share with the public the scientific excellence and historical and cultural value of kimchi in celebration of Kimchi Day," adding, "The institute will use this event as a stepping stone to continuously produce innovative scientific research outcomes that will lead the future of kimchi as the 'National Innovation Hub for the Kimchi Industry,' thereby enhancing the status of Korea as the homeland of kimchi."
