This year's certified companies and institutions include 112 newly certified and 56 re-certified entities, bringing the total number of certified companies to 607 since the introduction of the leisure-friendly certification system in 2012.

The leisure-friendly certification system is based on Article 16 of the Framework Act on the Promotion of National Leisure Activities. It selects and certifies companies and institutions that practice exemplary leisure-friendly management, enabling workers to harmoniously balance work and leisure life. The number of certification applications has been increasing every year since the system was introduced.

This year, there were a total of 200 applications, more than 2.5 times the 78 companies that applied in 2020 over the past five years. The 168 companies and institutions finally certified were evaluated through document screening, employee surveys, and interviews on items such as ▲securing leisure time ▲supporting leisure activities ▲organizational culture, and were selected through the resolution of the Leisure-Friendly Certification Committee.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selects 10 companies that lead leisure-friendly management, implement various leisure-friendly systems, or support distinctive leisure activities that differentiate them from other companies, and awards them through recommendations from evaluation committee members and resolutions of the Leisure-Friendly Certification Committee.

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award goes to four companies: Lotte Members, which supports 40% of operating profits for employee leisure expenses and creates an open leisure-friendly system through executive meetings composed of representatives of the younger generation; Wonik Materials, where employees plan leisure programs themselves through a special task force (TF) for work system and corporate culture considering job characteristics; Jaedam Media, which provides a flexible working environment by operating a one-minute unit flexible staggered working hours system and fully supporting remote work expenses at vacation spots every year; and Level Nine Co., Ltd., which strengthens employee bonds through leisure-mediated cultural activity programs with employees from other departments.

The Regional Culture Promotion Agency President’s Award is given to four companies: Shinshin M&C, Rainbow Communication, Busan Bank, and Icheon City Facilities Management Corporation. The Leisure-Friendly Certification Committee Special Award is presented to two companies: G-Bi Light and Korea Arboretum and Garden Management Corporation.

At the Leisure-Friendly Companies and Institutions Certification Ceremony held at 2 p.m. on the 6th at Namsan Gugakdang, awards for outstanding companies, certificate presentations, and presentations of best practices will be conducted. Certified leisure-friendly companies can use the leisure-friendly certification mark for the next three years (January 2025 to December 2027).

Lee Haedon, Director of Cultural Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "We will further expand practical benefits so that not only workers at certified companies and institutions but also their families can enjoy diverse leisure activities together."
