This training was prepared reflecting the growing importance of 'universal design.' 'Universal design' refers to designing cities so that anyone, regardless of disability or age, can use architecture, environments, and services more conveniently and safely.

The lecture was conducted under the theme of 'Creating Walkable Cities,' including theoretical education and field trips.

On the first day of training, an expert was invited to provide theoretical education on urban design titled 'Street Space Design for Sustainable Cities.' The instructor explained various design strategies based on actual domestic and international cases.

On the second day, field learning was conducted to apply the concepts of urban design and advanced cases learned in the theoretical education to the field. Visits were made to Yeouiroljang in Yeouido, Omok Park in Yangcheon-gu (winner of the 2024 Korea Public Design Award), and Magok District to examine cases where universal design was reflected in public buildings and public spaces, and time was spent analyzing areas for improvement.

A Paju City official said, “We will continue to promote education that can strengthen the design capabilities of working-level public officials to lay the foundation for creating a barrier-free urban environment accessible to everyone without discrimination.”
